Last weekend, local bus driver Dave Deming attempted to carry over 900 bananas on his Yuba Mundo cargo bike. That’s 400 lbs – 10 boxes of 40 lb. each. Why did he do it? How successful was it? Watch the video to find out.

Awesome fun.
Oh man that was so cool! I posted this on FB personally to Harley jonston in Australia who is the “Durian Rider” but also is an advocate of 30 bananas per day ! http://www.30bananasaday.com/
Man I really dig the YubaMundo! good job!
Thanks for the video- that made my morning. Next up, 50 gallons of milk and 800 boxes of cornflakes!
The Banana Bike Song
Well, he loads his banana bike and sings this song!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
His will is great and his thighs are strong!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
Four hundred pounds of ripe banana!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
It’s a heavenly food and it rhymes with manna!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Etc.
He rides all the way to the Really Free Market!
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
How the heck is he going to park it?
Dave’s bike groans but he ain’t goin’ home.
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Etc.
So when you’re out biking in the blazing sun,
Dave’s bike groaned but he didn’t go home.
Remember Dave hauled a quarter ton.
Delivered his load…and now he can go home!
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Dave’s bike groaned but he didn’t go home.
Dave, it’s a Da-a-a-ve Oh!
Delivered his load and now he can go home!
Wow, I didn’t know that you were such a lyricist. Will you put it to music? We can remake the video when you do!
Really fun to watch. Thank you for sharing ! smile
That’s my cousin!! Go Dave! BANANA HOOO!!
Well done!
Yuba’s founder (Benjamin Sanrazin) “only” managed 362 pounds during an alleycat race last November in San Francisco.
Morgan and Elise,
Sorry my boys and I missed you when we came through your store on May 1st (when this video was shot). I believe that Dave, your banana pilot was in the store waiting to get started when we came by. I distinctly remember his board-customized Mundo parked outside.
We also had two really odd coincidences I need to share. First of all, my older son happened to notice a sign you guys had up in the corner of your store containing pictures of all the cargo-carrying options. He spotted a picture of us we posted to the Roots Radicals site in your collage and pulled me over. Amazing, we drove all the way down to NC for a visit and find our picture adorning a bike shop. I think Dave got a chuckle from that one.
Second, as I watched your video, I believe I saw our car cross in frame at time mark 0:11. We’re the gray Subaru Forester heading westbound.
Wow- ships passing in the night! Funny that you were on our cargo biking board – it must have been destiny (or maybe just a small world!)
Hi,
Yes, sorry to have missed you as well – it would have been fun to meet up! But as you can see, we were a bit preoccupied.
Those coincidences are bizarre!
We hope you didn’t mind finding your picture on the board!
Let’s meet up next time,
M
That Yubanana ride was more fun than the proverbial barrel of monkeys; yesterday a longtime passenger got on the bus, looked me in the eye and sang,”Hey Mister Tallyman, count up me bananas!”
Does that helmet protect his head at all like that?
